Asumpter Mshama, Nkenge Member of Parliament
Vice President Dr Mohammed Gharib Bilal late last week graced a fund raising event aimed at raising 100m/- for the purchase of some 2500 desks for Nkenge constituency in Misenyi District, Kagera Region.
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, the Nkenge Member of Parliament Asumpter Mshama, said the fundraising is organised via the Madawati programme.
She said that, in her district, more than 5000 students seat on the floor while attending lessons but through the Nkenge foundation trust fund and the Madawati program the problem will finally be solved.
Mshama added that as the representative of the constituency, she established the Nkengo foundation trust fund to improve education and infrastructure through the said program so that the pupils in Misenyi district will have somewhere to sit allowing them to focus on their studies.
She said the government is trying to tackle the challenges facing the education sector in Misenyi but concerted efforts were needed to address the challenges because budget constraints of the government.
Mshama added that so far they have collected at least 30m/- out of 100m/- and through today’s fundraiser hope to collect the remaining 70m/-.
In that regard, she also announced that the popular pop artist Abdul Naseeb alias ‘Diamond’ will also hold a concert on December 21 to help raise 25m/- for the same purpose.
Further, more fundraisers will be held in Mbeya, Morogoro, Arusha and Mwanza regions to raise another 50m/-.
