Tanzania Revenues Authority (TRA) has urged Chinese construction firms operating in the country to comply with the country’s tax laws and regulations.
“Every business entity operating in the country must observe the tax law and related legal instruments, this applies to Chinese firms as well,” TRA’s taxpayers education manager Diana Masalla said in Dar es Salaam recently at a seminar organised for Chinese construction companies.
She said paying tax was not just a matter of corporate responsibility but also an issue of legal obligation. The seminar was meant to familiarise Chinese firms with the legal obligations facing businesses in the country.
Mr Lin Zhiyong, chief representative from the economic and commercial representative of China in Tanzania, urged all Chinese companies operating in the country to avoid evading paying tax.
“Tanzania has good taxation treatment to encourage foreign
investment and make it a fair as well as ideal investment destination,” he said.
