Social networking through Internet and poor monitoring by the parents are said to be the main cause of declining level of education in the country.
That was said during a meeting of head of secondary schools in Moshi Municipality, as among reasons behind the recent massive Form Four failures.
Education stakeholders cited the use of Internet as the main reason behind poor performance by students in their examinations.
According to TAHOSA chairperson Salma Kabwe, most students were spending their time on internet rather than studying.
Ms Kabwe said if parents could cooperate with teachers to make students spend most of their time revising, the level of education would have improved significantly. (Mariam Mchomvu)
